NHRC to probe sexual abuse of Haryana school girl
The National Human Rights Commission has ordered an enquiry and recommended compensation to the sexually abused school girl in Haryana. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has decided to take up the case of a class eight student in Haryana, who was allegedly sexually abused by her headmaster in the school two years ago.The Commission has ordered an enquiry into the complaint by Sube Singh, the victim's grandfather, who has alleged that no action was taken against the culprit as the FIR in the case was not registered under the appropriate sections of the law.The complain also said that the police lodged an FIR on February 14, 2007 against the headmaster of the school, Samay Singh, three days after the incident, reports IANS."Taking this into consideration, the Commission has directed the NHRC Director General of Investigations to conduct an on the spot enquiry and submit the report within two weeks," an NHRC official said.The commission also recommended a sum of Rs 100,000 to be paid as interim compensation to the victim. It also asked the Haryana Chief Secretary to submit a compliance report and proof of payment of the same.
